About the American Board of
Comprehensive Clinical Medicine (ABCCM)

Setting the Standard for Primary Care and General Medicine Excellence

The American Board of Comprehensive Clinical Medicine (ABCCM) is an independent certifying body that recognizes and validates the skills of physicians trained in primary care, general medicine, and comprehensive clinical practice. As a specialty board under the Global Health & Quality Alliance (GHQA), ABCCM bridges the gap between diverse training backgrounds and the requirements of U.S. licensure and clinical excellence.

We offer board certification in Comprehensive Clinical Medicine (CCM)—a specialty that reflects the breadth and complexity of generalist clinical care across settings and patient populations. Physicians with backgrounds in primary care, general medicine, or comparable clinical fellowships are highly encouraged to apply.

Mission

To advance health equity and expand access to high-quality care by certifying and supporting a global and diverse physician workforce. ABCCM empowers physicians—especially those trained in primary care disciplines—to serve U.S. communities through validated competence and structured training.

Vision

A U.S. healthcare system where every capable physician—regardless of where they trained—has a clear, fair, and structured path to contribute meaningfully to patient care. We envision a future where primary care and general medicine are strengthened by diversity, excellence, and community-focused service.
